[ Whats My Prompt? Day 2: Memory Lane ]
Memory Lane looks beautiful. The roads are paved with precious metals. The signs direct you to myriad highways. Your mindset determines the atmosphere.
Exit 1: Trauma. A tornado warning remains in effect. Massive tear showers, turbulent tales of yesteryear, and gale force frustration await.
Exit 2: Jubilation. Streets clear of traffic and smog as you lose yourself to the majestic scenery. Your daydreams become your deepest revered thoughts.
Those thoughts form an imperfect GPS which can lead you down either path. And what about the loops? What if you miss your exit to stay within a certain area because the dopamine dosed experience is just “too good to leave now”
Why would we knowingly travel down a tunnel of mental tumult? What makes those memories appeal to the leisure traveler? Maybe the experiences that shape our lives should be cherished despite its flaws. But when you roadtrip down decades of love, brotherhood and indelible moments, you can’t help but zone out.
You might miss your stop on this journey. The allure of your past life might distract you. And you may get lost in your own head. You’ll know, and you’ll love it. Because our cherished memories fade away if we don’t travel down Memory Lane every now and again.
Inspired by my 20-year Alphaversary. I celebrate two decades in this beautifully imperfect brotherhood today. I wouldn’t be who I am now, if I didn’t become a brother then. 06 to the Torch Bearers. Onward. Upward.
